✅ Automatic OneNote Backup Settings
OneNote automatically backs up your notebooks weekly. To increase the frequency or change the backup location, follow these steps:
🔧 Change Backup Frequency and Folder Location
- Open OneNote and go to File > Options.
- In the OneNote Options dialog box, select Save & Backup.
- Under the Save section on the right, click Backup Folder > Modify.
- In the Select Folder dialog box, choose your preferred backup location.
- 💡 Tip: Use the MyDocuments folder, which is also backed up by OneDrive.
- Click Select, then OK to confirm the new backup location.
📝 How to Manually Back Up OneNote Notebooks
If you’ve made significant changes or added critical information, it’s smart to run a manual backup.
📌 Steps to Manually Back Up
- Go to File > Options.
- In the OneNote Options dialog box, choose Save & Backup.
- Under the Save section, click Back Up All Notebooks Now.
- Once the backup completes, click OK.
🗂️ Keep Multiple Backup Versions
To avoid overwriting older backups and maintain an archive of your notes:
- In the Save & Backup settings, adjust the Number of backup copies to keep.
- This ensures you retain multiple versions of your notebooks over time.
